APPLY Fabrics TO CONTROL SOUND in environments

Discover the functionality and comfort of fabrics

The tested fabrics from De Ploeg have an aw value of 0.4 to 0.75. That means that they absorb 40% to 75% of the sound. The placement is also important for the acoustic effect:

  • The greater the distance from the wall to the fabric (up to 30 centimeters) the more noise the substance absorbs.
  • The larger the folds, the more noise the fabric absorbs.

Aw values only give a rough indication of the sound-deadening properties of a substance. For acoustic calculations it is necessary to view the reverberation times of individual frequencies.

VARIABLE SOUND DAMPING WITH CURTAINS

Compared to sound panels, curtains have the advantage of being flexible: they can be used close or open for more or less noise reduction. For example, the reverberation time can be adjusted to the use of the space at that moment, for example for a lecture, meeting, working in groups or a music or singing performance.
